The Media Education Centre (MEC) for children and youth is founded as no-political, no-profit NGO, gathering civilest willing to work for aims of scientific and professional researches about influence and application of media in no-formal education of children through media literacy, and in accordance with human and children rights on access to information, rights to preservation of cultural, national and religious diversity and the right to participate in media.

Role:

In order to succeed in realization of the mentioned aims, MEC is dealing with:

  • organization, individually/independently or together with other organizations, of meetings of professionals, consultations or symposiums on media literacy for children and youth, as well as of a use of the media in taking care of cultural, national and religious diversity, human and children rights;
  • collecting, investigating and working on scientific and professional literature of the field;
  • participation in activities in connection with the promotion of the media for the children and youth and the media literacy;
  • participation in no-formal and no-profit education of the children and youth for the use of technologies in order to be able to preserve cultural, national and religious differences, cultural and historical inheritance and the right to have access to the information and the right to participation;
  • cooperation with the professional associations and other organizations from the domicile country and abroad that are working on basic conditions for wide (massive) application of the media communications and the united participation in media projects for children and youth all over the world.
