RADIOFABRIK - Austria is a non-commercial community radio station in Salzburg, Austria. It started broadcasting in 1998 and can be listened daily at 107, 5 MHz and on the Internet at www.radiofabrik.at. Today, the principle of public access and a low threshold are very important values within the mission of RADIOFABRIK, which is became an active participant in the public discussion. One of the aims of the radio is to invite groups or individuals to actively use radio to express themselves. Main themes are related to culture, youth, social and political life, migration. RADIOFABRIK is especially active on Education.

At local level RADIOFABRIK co-operates with the Salzburg University, Institute of Communications and adult education institutions. It run a wide range of radio courses from digital editing to media law, where people are being trained to produce radio broadcasts and being empowered to make use of media.  At European level RADIOFABRIK was project leader of “Europe on Air” funded by the European Commission (Sokrates/Lingua) and aimed at the promotion of language diversity in Europe. This project was finished in December 2003 (www.europe-on-air.net)In 2004 RADIOFABRIK was involved in one project on Media Literacy (www.roamingreporters.net) and another related with the Enlargement of the European Union. Role:

As Partner/National Coordinator (P/NC) will take part to the main activities and it will coordinate schools in Salzburg (activities 2.1-2.4). RADIOFABRIK will specifically be responsible for the Local Information Campaign through Radio by means interviews of key persons and students, radio phone calling, promotion of the project with news, discussions and debates (activity 3.4).
